Skellerup Warm Roof System

International Best-Practice in insulating a building - from the outside in, using sheets of rigid insulation panels.

What is a Warm Roof?

The most commonly accepted definition of a warm roof (for low slope roofs) is "a roof where the insulation is installed on top of the roof structure" i.e insulated from the outside of the building.

Skellerup "Warm Roof" System

The Skellerup Warm Roof system comprises of a layer of polyisocyanurate (polyiso) rigid insulation panels of any thickness (depending on the minimum R-value required), installed on top of the roof substrate.* A layer of wide-sheet single-ply membrane (either Skellerup Epiclad or Skellerup Enviroclad) is then fully-adhered on top of the polyiso.

(* In the case of the South Island and the North Island's Central Plateau, a vapour barrier is required between the substrate and insulation.)

With a correctly designed warm roof:

The dew point is on the outside of the building = no damp or rotten materials inside...
So no ventilation of the ceiling cavity is required
Thermal bridging is avoided seeing no mechanical fasteners are used.
The roof cavity is clear for wiring (not stuffed with insulation)
The savings in air conditioning and heating costs hugely shorten the amortisation period of the initial warm roof cost
The rigid insulation sheets add some structural integrity to the roof
Significantly higher R-values are achieved (uniformly across the entire roof; not just in parts)
Warm roof insulation systems can easily be retrofitted onto an existing building.

Adhesive - FBS Fast Dual Cartridge (STP900)

2 Part polyurethane foam adhesive (applied by a Caulking gun) for adhering fleece-backed membranes and polyiso insulation panels to the substrate.

Battery Powered Caulking Gun (STP910)

Battery powered caulking gun for dispensing FAST ADHESIVE for adhering FBS membranes or polyiso panels to the substrate.

Pneumatic Caulking Gun (STP915)

Pneumatic powered caulking gun for dispensing FAST ADHESIVE for adhering FBS membranes or polyiso panels to the substrate.

Seam Plate & Fastener

Seam Plate (VWR000) - Fastener (VWR001. To be used with Warmroofs or mechanically fastened membrane projects.

Skellerup Insulation Sheet Polyiso

Rigid insulation sheets of Polyiso used between the roof substrate andthe waterproofing membrane. VWR025 - 25mm x 1220 x 2290, VWR038 - 38mm x 1220 x 2290, VWR050 - 50mm x 1220 x 2290 VWR063 - 63mm x 1220 x 2290, VWR076 - 76mm x 1220 x 2290.

Tapered Polyiso insulation Sheets

Polyiso insulation sheets that taper from thick to thin to promote watershed at key drainage areas. (VWT038 = 38mm to 12mm x 1220 x 1220, (VWT063 = 63mm to 38mm x 1220 x 1220)

Vapour Barrier - (VWR725)

In the South Island and North Island's Central Plateau, a Vapour Barrier is required which is a 1.0m wide bituminous based, peel 'n stick membrane installed between the substrate and underside of the insulation board.
