George Clarke’s show Amazing Spaces featured the bach of award winning architect Ken Crosson.

When the World Architecture News Finalist bach is empty it looks like a timber container sitting on the land edge. However, it unfolds at the touch of a button with the timber walls lowering and becoming decks and platforms, revealing an inviting and comfortable living space and opening the house up to the stunning Coromandel views.

Check out this video clip from the show which features the striking holiday home, its stunning views and Viking Epiclad.

The roof of the container style house is waterproofed with Viking Epiclad, a single ply EPDM rubber membrane.

Viking Epiclad has been keeping Kiwis dry for 25 years and was the perfect solution for this project. The durability properties means it won’t be affected by the strong UV and salt spray orison common with its ocean side location.

The black colour has morphed perfectly with the style of this architects house, important, as this buildings location means it can be viewed from above.

The EPDM elastic and elongation elements mean that it can move with the movement of the building without any negative effects to its waterproofing and durability proprieties. Its independent BRANZ appraisal ensures it is able to withstand all of New Zealands weather extremes.
