Torch-On Membranes
Viking Torch-On - as seen on The Block NZ 2019, is a two-layer waterproofing system.
Viking Roofspec has partnered with Italian supplier General Membrane to offer three fit -for-climate BRANZ appraised torch-on solutions. Specialising in modified bitumen technology, General Membrane provides Viking Roofspec with an exclusive and code-compliant plasticised (APP), rubberised (SBS), and hybrid (APAO) systems.
Viking Torch-On Phoenix Super APAO is CodeMark and BBA (British Board of Agreement) certified. BBA is one of the world’s highest accreditations for a construction product.

We offer three fit-for-purpose Viking torch-on membranes: Gemini APP, Lybra SBS and Phoenix Super APAO
Viking Gemini APP
Viking Gemini APP is a robust and versatile membrane system ideally suited to New Zealand’s North Island (except the Central Volcanic Plateau) and the Pacific Islands.
Viking Gemini APP consists of a 3mm thick base sheet installed on a bitumen-primed substrate. This provides a building’s secondary waterproofing layer, on top of which a 4mm ceramic chip cap sheet is then ‘torched’ to provide the primary waterproofing and UV resistant layer.
Viking Lybra SBS
Viking Lybra SBS is a robust and versatile membrane system ideally suited to New Zealand’s South Island and the North Island’s Central Volcanic Plateau. The elastomeric (‘rubberised bitumen’) properties of Viking Lybra SBS are ideal for the waterproofing requirements of buildings situated in areas subjected to climatic extremes.
Viking Lybra SBS consists of a 3mm thick base sheet. A 4mm ceramic chip cap sheet is then installed on top in the same way as the Gemini APP system.
Viking Phoenix Super APAO
Viking's ‘Platinum’ Solution can be installed anywhere in the world. It is an APAO membrane that incorporates the best of APP and SBS membrane features.
Viking Phoenix Super APAO possesses all of the durability properties inherent in the Gemini APP membrane, with the elastomeric advantages in the Lybra SBS, resulting in a premium system. A key benefit is its unequalled cold flexibility down to (-35°C), coupled with high temperature resistance of +140°C. This means it can be used in any climate and will last longer than other systems.
Viking Phoenix Super APAO consists of a 4mm thick base sheet and a 4mm ceramic chip cap sheet which is then installed on top. It is installed in the same way as the other systems.
