What are screwjack pedestals?
The New Zealand Building Code states that an exterior deck’s waterproofing membrane must be a minimum of 100mm below the level of the interior floor slab.
To achieve a smooth indoor outdoor flow (without the 100mm stepdown) a screwjack pedestal system can be used to suspend the deck’s walking surface at the same height as the interior floor level.

Most pedestals have been designed only for pavers, whereas the Viking Buzon system also has a batten support system for timber decking, which is very popular in New Zealand.
While most pedestals have only height adjustment, Viking Buzon pedestals have both height and slope adjustment allowing for the deck surface to be perfectly flat (0 degrees) while the membrane below slopes away to promote drainage.
