Buzon - Deck Screwjack Pedestal

Viking Buzon In Action 2

What are screwjack pedestals?

The New Zealand Building Code states that an exterior deck’s waterproofing membrane must be a minimum of 100mm below the level of the interior floor slab.

To achieve a smooth indoor outdoor flow (without the 100mm stepdown) a screwjack pedestal system can be used to suspend the deck’s walking surface at the same height as the interior floor level.

Why Viking Buzon?

In a nutshell, Viking Buzon's screwjack pedestals create a seamless indoor outdoor flow. They offer batten support for timber decking, which is very popular in New Zealand.

Viking Buzon is manufactured to precise European standards and they have the largest surface area of any pedestal on the market @ 325 cm² (20 cm diameter).

Viking Buzon Water On Deck

Superior drainage

Viking Buzon offers superior drainage whilst still promoting watershed. The water drains between the pavers or timber planks down onto the waterproofing membrane below.

Access to membrane

The timber or tile surface is installed on top of the Viking Buzon. This surface can then be easily lifted up off the Buzon pedestal to allow for any leaks to be diagnosed and the membrane to be easily cleaned.

Paver and Timber deck compatibility

Most pedestals have been designed only for pavers, whereas the Viking Buzon system also has a batten support system for timber decking, which is very popular in New Zealand.

VK Buzon Height Adjustment

Height adjustment

While most pedestals have only height adjustment, Viking Buzon pedestals have both height and slope adjustment allowing for the deck surface to be perfectly flat (0 degrees) while the membrane below slopes away to promote drainage.
