What is Viking Deck-K-ing?
Viking's Dec-K-ing waterproofing membrane provides the ultimate underfoot finish and waterproofing to any deck. Originally designed for the marine industry, Viking Dec-K-ing is a single ply PVC reinforced with a polyester mesh.
It is tried and tested across for over 20 years in New Zealand and is the the perfect solution where a home or building features an internal deck.
Simplicity in design
As a flexible vinyl sheet, this membrane is able to be moulded to tie into the design of the outdoor living area, ensuring the space is watertight.
Simplicity in waterproofing
Building and home owners have been drawn to the fact that a finished, watertight, aesthetic deck need not be a hybrid of waterproofing membranes with floating timber or tile deck arrangements on top.
Viking Dec-K-ing achieves everything in one system and its seams are heat welded at 460 degree celsius to achieve complete impermeability.
Simplicity in installation
Viking Dec-K-ing is ideally suited for coastal conditions, as the salt air does not affect the membrane. It can be installed over treated flooring grade plywood (min 17mm thick), concrete and fibre cement.
Popular in New Zealand homes, it has also been successfully applied in multi-unit apartments, surf clubs, schools and other facilities requiring an attractive, hard-wearing waterproofing deck system with maximum grip underfoot.
To ensure a professional, watertight finish Viking Dec-K-ing can only be installed by a Viking Approved Applicator.

Movement of substrate
Movement of substrate, caused by various factors, can produce a membrane wrinkle at movement points. This is referred to as ‘Tenting’. All membrane types can exhibit ‘Tenting’. The Dec-K-ing substrate specification has been formulated to negate substrate movement, and since its inception has been very successful. However on rare occasions ‘Tenting’ can occur under certain seasonal conditions. Remedy of ‘Tenting’ is not covered under the product warranty; however the waterproofing guarantee for Dec-K-ing is not affected as it has the tensile and elongation properties to forgive such movement throughout its service life.
