KBS_pinnacle-lane_160405_019.jpg

What is Viking General Membrane?

A Viking General Membrane torch-on waterproofing system comprises of two layers – a base sheet which serves as the primary waterproofing layer and a cap sheet installed on top, which serves as a secondary waterproofing layer while also providing the necessary UV protection.

We offer fit for purpose Viking General Membrane solution systems:

  • Three roofing torch-on membranes - Gemini A.P.P, Lybra S.B.S and Phoenix Super A.P.A.O;

  • One below ground tanking torch-on waterproofing membrane - Mercury FC; and

  • Two more specialised varieties of torch-on membranes - General Garden FLL Antiroot and Orion Ponti.

Ceramic Chip Cap Sheet

All Viking General Membrane systems exposed to the sun have a ceramic chip cap sheet. This ceramic chip provides the numerous improvements over traditional slate mineral chip surfaces, including:

  • Stronger UV resistance – resulting in an increased service life of the roof.
  • A more robust surface – it is a harder chip, meaning a strong resistance to tread wear, with less deterioration and loss of chip over its lifetime.
  • An aesthetically superior finish - it offers a more uniform and more consistent colour fastness with a better looking, professional finish. Ceramic chip absorbs fewer oils which results means that it is less blotchy over its lifetime.

To see the refined finish the chip has order your sample today on 0800 729 799. It really has a stunning finish!

Quality Installation

Viking General Membrane is applied by a controlled flame which allows the bitumen to bleed into tight corners to seal intricate and vulnerable areas for leaks such as roof penetrations, internal corners and gutter junctions. It creates a watertight finish to protect a home or building from the elements.

Viking General Membrane can only be installed by a Viking Approved Applicator to ensure a professional, watertight finish. Viking Roofspec provides a professional torch-on licensing programme hosted by ‘Intersafe’ – a nationally recognised and accredited membrane installation training provider.

IMG_0042.jpg

A Solution for Climate Extremes

Viking GM Lybra S.B.S is the logical choice of membrane to fulfil the waterproofing requirements of buildings situated in areas subjected to climatic extremes. Its elastomeric properties allow the membrane to deal with the stresses of severe climate variations.

Viking GM Lybra S.B.S consists of a 3mm thick base sheet as the first waterproofing layer installed on a bitumen-primed substrate. A 4mm ceramic chip cap sheet is then installed on top. The cap sheet is available in black or grey. Both layers are torched-on with a propane gas-fuelled flame.

Ice On Building

Advantages

  • S.B.S. membranes have a lower melt point and high cold-flexibility credentials allowing them to be exposed to lower temperatures without fracturing.

  • Cold flexibility down to -15°C assists application in chillier climatic conditions

  • Excellent dimensional stability and avoids shrinkage of the waterproofing membrane surface.

  • Ceramic Chip Cap-Sheet which offers:

  • Stronger UV resistance – resulting in an increased service life of the roof.

  • Aesthetic appeal – it offers crisper; more uniform and more consistent colour fastness with a better looking, professional finish.

  • More robust surface – The ceramic chip is a harderchip that mineral, so there’s a strong resistance to tread wear, with less deterioration and loss of chip over its life-time. Being slightly less coarse, it’s more embedded in the bitumen sheet, so it doesn’t delaminate as easily.

General Garden FLL - Two-Layer Torch-On AntiRoot Membrane

Viking Roofspec Roof Garden Auckland Zoo

A Membrane Solution for Roof Gardens

A roof garden installed without a specialised root barrier membrane system is dicing with danger. Viking GM Gemini Garden FLL Anti-root membrane was developed specifically to deal with invasive roots. Aside from the chemical properties infused in the bitumen during manufacture to ensure roots don’t penetrate into the building, this membrane’s exceptional rot-proof polyester reinforcing mesh has been designed to avoid shrinkage and withstand extreme structural movement.

UV Resistance

Despite being mostly covered in soil, this product still has excellent UV resistance as it still gets exposed on parapets and upstands.

roofgarden.19.jpg

Keeping the roots at bay

Viking GM Anti-root membranes are used in roof garden projects to perform the important role of coercing plant and tree roots to turn away before membrane penetration through their inherent specialised chemical treatment.

This system possesses the appropriate chemistry to literally ‘turn roots away’ from their attempt at membrane penetration.
