Westpac Bank - Hamilton
Challenge
The Westpac building in Hamilton's city centre was facing issues surrounding a leaking roof. An interior refit of the building was underway and it was essential that the building was watertight.
The roof was originally covered in a competitor's product and later overlaid with a liquid membrane to try and prevent the leaking. The existing roof surface could not be removed due to the risk of exposing the interior to the building to adverse weather conditions.
Solution
Viking Enviroclad was recommended as the ultimate roofing membrane system that would provide a watertight finish, with its heat-welded seams and complete range of proprietary accessories to deal meticulously and effortlessly with the challenge of roof penetrations.
Viking Enviroclad was installed over the existing roof surface and its heat-welded (vunlcanised) seams ensured this low-sloped roof had a reliable, watertight finish. Additionally, the extra width and length of the rolls (3.0m x 30.4m) meant significantly less seams compared to conventional membrane systems.
Proprietary Accessories
The penetrations in the roof’s surface, which included existing pipe work and air conditioning equipment, were dealt with efficiently and effectively using Viking Enviroclad proprietary accessories such as pipe seals and pourable pockets.
On completion Viking Enviroclad walkway mats were installed to provide further protection and traction under foot when the roof is serviced.
Professional finish
The Viking Enviroclad membrane was applied by a trained and licensed Viking Approved Applicator, who was an integral part of ensuring that a professional finish was achieved.
Result
The Viking Enviroclad membrane has provided a watertight finish to the building’s roof surface.
